Abstract

BRUZON HERNANDEZ, José Miguel; HERNANDEZ AREU, Orestes  and  RAMOS GUARDARRAMA, Josnier. Reduction of losses in transformer core during reconfiguration of air gaps area. Energética [online]. 2018, vol.39, n.1, pp.21-30. ISSN 1815-5901.

In distribution transformers, the issue of the distribution or configuration of the zone of the air gap has motivated the discussion of specialists, since the combination of the parameters that characterize this zone exerts some influence on the levels of no-load losses and currents. These parameters are; quantity of sheets for packages, the length of the overlay between sheets and the length of the spark gap. The results of a research developed with the objective of reducing losses and no-load currents in transformer cores from different configurations of the air gap zone are presented. The certainty of the results is evaluated statistically. In addition, the results obtained by simulation through the Finite Element Method (FEM) of different zone configurations of the investigated air gaps are presented. A theoretical analysis of the phenomena or processes that justify the obtained results is carried out.

Keywords : Transformers; transformer core; transformer core air gaps.
