Resumen

QUESADA MARQUETTI, Juan Carlos; VALLIN, Moises Ferrer  y  FUENTEFRIA, Ariel Santos. Analysis of frequency deviation in an isolated electrical system with distributed wind farms. Energética [online]. 2024, vol.45, n.1, pp. 43-52.  Epub 30-Mar-2024. ISSN 1815-5901.

Installing wind farms in isolated power systems can cause issues regarding frequency control. These issues are due to the variable nature of wind and the characteristics of the grid itself. This research analyzed how frequency deviation is affected by distributing multiple wind farms and how to reduce those deviations by leaving active power reserves in the wind farms. Monte Carlo simulations were used, considering various scenarios where wind penetration was gradually increased while leaving fixed and variable power reserves, using fuzzy control for the latter. The results obtained demonstrate that as wind penetration increases, frequency deviations also increase until they violate the Cuban grid code. These deviations were reduced by implementing reserves in the wind farms, with the best results achieved when using variable reserves.

Palabras clave : frequency deviation; wind parks; isolated power systems; variable reserve.
