Abstract
BARRIONUEVO ORTIZ, Nelson Iván and CRUZ HURTADO, Juan Carlos. Analysis ofefficiency on the number of stages of a low-power Voltage Multiplier. EAC [online]. 2014, vol.35, n.3, pp. 90-101. ISSN 1815-5928.
Voltage multipliers allow the conversion of alternating signals to a direct component of voltage, while the magnitude of the voltage increases. These are used in wireless power transmission, energy harvesting, RFID and other systems; where the available power is very low. It is important to obtain the highest possible output power, demanding efficiency form the voltage multiplier. In this work, the conversion efficiency and output power of the voltage multiplier are analyzed. It is shown that the single stage voltage multiplier is the most efficient, and when it uses a matching network produces a higher output voltage than voltage multipliers with more stages. A single stage voltage multiplier is constructed with schottky diodes. This is evaluated with a LC matching networks for several values of inductanceto select the best performance. Conversion efficiency above 57 % is obtained from an input power of -2 dBm, enabling its use in low power applications.
