VAZQUEZ SEISDEDOS, Carlos R.; PALACIOS MELENDEZ, Edwin F.; CORDOVA RIVADENEIRA, Luis S. e ROMERO PAZ, Manuel. Car Tracking System based on GPS and Wi-Fi. EAC [online]. 2016, vol.37, n.2, pp. 15-27. ISSN 1815-5928.
In this paper the design and implementation of a mobile device for the acquisition, transmission and display of the vehicle position to a remote terminal, comprising a computer and a wireless access point is described. The device contains a GPS receiver module, a serial-Ethernet converter, a liquid crystal display (LCD) module and a wireless access point, all governed by a 16F870 PIC microcontroller. The experimental tests of a prototype, inside and outside of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil campus, showed that the developed device is able to acquire and transmit the coordinates of latitude and longitude with a minimal accuracy of 4.4 m and 6.1m, respectively and it works correctly under variable speed from 0 to 140 km/h. The acquisition-and-display time of the position is 1 minute, which is enough for future monitoring of urban transport vehicle.
