PINTO, Ángel D. et al. Model for prediction of propagation path loss in Digital Terrestrial Television. EAC [online]. 2016, vol.37, n.2, pp. 67-81. ISSN 1815-5928.
Given the global widespread implementation of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) or Digital Open Television, it is required to have models able to predict the propagation path loss in such systems, accurately as possible, according to propagation characteristics of environments where systems are to be implemented. Therefore, in this paper two novel models were developed, they both are based on measurements at the received signal level; the measurements are performed in outdoor environments in Caracas, Venezuela. One of the models relies on the known linear relationship between losses and distance between transmitter and receiver, when losses and distance are transformed into logarithmic (base 10) scales. The other model is the result of optimizing the original Okumura-Hata model. The performance of the new proposed models are evaluated in terms of the root mean square error (RMSE) and results show considerable improvements over the non-modified Okumura-Hata model, ITU-R P.1546-5 Recommendation and ITU-R P.1812- 4 Recommendation.
