Abstract

NAGY, Agnes S.; POLANCO RISQUET, Alicia; MARTINEZ DE LA COTERA, Osmanys L.  and  CARRALERO IBARGOLLEN, Omar. Simultaneous measurement of gases with MQ sensors. EAC [online]. 2020, vol.41, n.1, pp.34-43.  Epub Mar 09, 2020. ISSN 1815-5928.

The protection of the environment, increasingly damaged by the activities developed by man, and within it the protection of the human, day by day becomes more essential. One of the most harmful components to health is the pollution of the air we breathe with toxic gases. MQ commercial gas sensors with high sensitivity and rapid response are widely used for the measurement and / or detection of different gases in controlled environments. However, the low selectivity limits their use in environments, where several types of gases may be present. In this work a procedure that allows the simultaneous measurement of air pollutant gases is presented, together with the results obtained, using the MQ-2 and MQ-5 gas sensors, connected to a sensor node formed by Raspberry Pi 3 single-board computer. The procedure can be used in applications that need alarm signals or indicators of clean air, and also to carry out environmental studies based in the stored results, as was done in the application presented.

Keywords : environment; gas sensors; simultaneous measurement of gases with MQ sensors.
