Abstract

SANTOS-CEBALLOS, José Carlos; PEREZ-BLANCO, Jorge Germán; MARTIN-GONZALEZ, Francisco  and  VELARDE-REYES, Ernesto. Implementation of the Control Module of Infantix system. EAC [online]. 2020, vol.41, n.2, pp.1-17.  Epub Aug 01, 2020. ISSN 1815-5928.

The congenital hearing loss causes important changes in the cerebral organization, as well as a delay in the neurodevelopment of the child. The adequate implementation of neonatal auditory screening programs guarantees early diagnosis and intervention. The equipment used in these programs must be easy to operate, portable and present automatic methods for the detection of hearing loss. In this paper we present the Control Module, based on the STM32F429xx microcontroller, of the neonatal screening system known as Infantix, developed by the Neurosciences Center of Cuba. This module has among its functions, feed and control the rest of the system, process the bioelectrical signals from the recording module, store the patient data and their tests, and establish the interface with the user. As a result, a Control Module was obtained, which provides portability to the system, powered by battery and low consumption. The implemented module presents a friendly user interface and the ability to run tests automatically, without the need for highly qualified personnel. With the development of this module, a new alternative for the early detection of hearing loss emerges.
