Abstract
CEPERO-AGUILERA, Yanexi; PALOMINO-MARIN, Evelio and PONCE -TOSTE, Yanet. Distinctive features for sound pressure level and vibration measurements over engine generator sets type MAN 18 v48/60 b. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2011, vol.14, n.1, pp.40-51. ISSN 1815-5944.
A research project for condition monitoring of engine generator sets is developed as part of main researches at Maintenance Engineering Research Center. Sound pressure level and vibration measurements over an engine generator set MAN 18 V48/60 B are made with the goal of identify those frequencies present in both, sound pressure level and vibration spectra which could give the possibility to use sound pressure level as a symptom parameter because of the continuous feature of this kind of measurement. It is analyzed everything stated in ISO 3744 standard but it was impossible to apply such standard taking in mind the complexity of industrial environment. However, because the research is focused on generator it was registered the sound pressure level near generator bearings. Vibrations were also registered on bearings according to ISO 8528-9 standard. For comparative analysis it was necessary to convert FFT spectra into constant percent bandwidth spectra. As a result, the spectral frequencies could not be correlated in both sound pressure level and vibration spectra and a generator normal condition was found as a preliminary evaluation.
Keywords : sound pressure level; vibration measurements; constant percent bandwidth; engine generator sets.
