Abstract

Presently work some of the results of the analysis carried out to the mechanisms of support, of closing and of turn of the metallic bridge of the Beach district in Havana city (popularly known as "Iron Bridge") are shown, like initial part of a wider project that will include the repair of the whole bridge. This has more than 100 years of exploitation (from 1906) and with an almost null maintenance, that has resulted in a considerable deterioration o f the bridge. In this article the main ones characteristic and pathologies detected when inspecting the mechanisms mentioned previously are described and also are presented, the results of the numeric simulation of one of assembles of pieces of the support mechanism. This simulation profited that the support can work with an appropriate security.
