Abstract

ROMERO-NIETO, Sandra Patricia  and  OLAYA-FLOREZ, Jhon Jairo. Influence of the transfer by arc on the microstructure of welded joint produced by pulsed arc. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2013, vol.16, n.1, pp.1-12. ISSN 1815-5944.

This article studies the influence of pulsed arc transfer in the GMAW process on the microstructure, using two shielding gas composition and the pulsed arc and short circuit transfer. The microstructure and mechanical properties was characterized and the results show that is achieved a greater tensile strength and more homogeneous in the hardness profile using the pulsed arc transfer, because it creates a more uniform size grain in the three areas of welding. The presence of a circular ferrite was constant in all treatments tested, while widmastatten ferrite was presented preferably in the pulsed arc transfer.

Keywords : transfer in pulsed current; GMAW process; shielding gas mixtures.
