A procedure for estimating of minimum effective case depth of carburized teeth of cylindrical gears. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2018, vol.21, n.1, pp.10-18. ISSN 1815-5944.
A procedure for estimating recommended values of effective case depth of carburized teeth of cylindrical steel gears is presented. Procedure take into account the radius of relative curvature of teeth flanks and recommendations of Kron y Börnecke published on ISO 6336-5 standard The procedure was developed by means of a mathematical model oriented to find solution to the problem of calculation of minimum effective case depth on cylindrical gears. Research results show recommended values of effective case depth sensitive to the teeth width and radius of relative curvature of teeth flanks, but instead a difference of 6 % and 46 % was observed between values of Kron and Börnecke´s recommendations of rational case depth; this fact has evident the need to continue these studies to achieve more precise rational values
