Abstract

CABRERA-GONZALEZ, Ada Caridad; ABREU-MARQUEZ, Evelyn  and  MARTINEZ-ABREU, Yohana Beatriz. Difficulties in writing argument texts related to science. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2019, vol.22, n.2, pp.67-73.  Epub Aug 01, 2019. ISSN 1815-5944.

It is not easy to speak or to write about science because to do so it is necessary to have knowledge and skills about different functional and formal aspects related to context. In different kinds of diagnostic and proficiency texts applied to students at Universidad Tecnológica de La Habana José Antonio Echeverría, difficulties were present in writing argumentative texts that affect the necessary communicative competence in order to interact with the context. This affect the accuracy, precision and understanding of the ideas since there is no an adequate use of the language. This aspect is not in correspondence to the professional model, which states that one of the goals is to graduate a professional with an adequate use of its mother tongue in order to solve problems in his scientific and technical environment. The objective of this research was to show these difficulties and some tasks designed and applied in order to overcome them. It was possible to verify that the students were able to generalize and apply these contents and generalize them effectively in communication though the treatment and systematization of these contents.

Keywords : difficulties; writing; argumentative texts; science.
