The historical formation of the primary teacher constitutes a necessity to achieve a professional with ways of acting coherent with the social demands. This paper aims to present the results of the study carried out on the current state of the historical formation of the primary teacher in the Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education, University of Pinar del Rio. We used methods such as historical and logical, documentary analysis, interview teachers, teacher survey in training and observation to classes, which allowed us to verify the current state of the process of historical formation in the initial training of the primary teacher. The search for information on the subject showed that it has been little approached and that other terms such as historical education and historical culture have been used, the latter declared as one of the general objectives in curricula D and E. In the development of the programs of the discipline of History of Cuba, it has not been possible for the teachers in formation to appropriate historical contents and to develop the historical mode of reasoning, which favours the development of pedagogical professional ways of achieving education integral of the primary school.
