Abstract

VEGA CHACON, Reynaldo. Socio-educational methodology of intersectoral nature for the prevention of suicidal behavior in adolescents. Rev. Mendive [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.1, pp. 93-109. ISSN 1815-7696.

Suicidal behavior is one of the social problems affecting the mental health of adolescents. For its prevention, several investigations have been carried out with greater prevalence in sciences such as sociology, psychology, medical sciences and anthropology, however, studies in the educational sciences have been insufficient in their practical-theoretical contribution related to preventive-educational activity, an aspect that has prevented an anticipatory work of integral form. The aspects addressed allowed the development of this research that aims at the implementation of a socio-educational methodology of intersectoral nature, revealing the relationship between School Health and Mental Health with the support of the family and the school council, for the prevention of suicidal behavior in adolescents. It had several stages and stages. In this direction we worked with the method of preventive-intervention-intersectoral care, as an essential way to contribute to such prevention from a socio-psychoeducational nature materialized in a case study conducted to a student of the IPU ¨Doris Martínez Mejías¨ municipality of San Luis, very vulnerable to the suicidal attempt. The results were excellent to be able to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposal, observing in the student an adequate sense of life and capacity for resilience thanks to the transformation of psychosocial vulnerability factors into socio-educational protection factors. The aspects covered allow us to synthesize that this methodology turned out to be a theoretical and practical contribution to the Education Sciences.
