ORTEGA CARULO, Daylin. The Young labor resources in Latin America and the case of Cuba. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2016, vol.12, n.24, pp.124-133. ISSN 1817-4078.

This article proposes a description of the situation of young labor resources in Latin America and makes a brief reference to the case of Cuba in particular. Initially are analyzed the size and complexity of employment for this segment of the population through statistics showing their representation in the economically active population, their rates of participation in economic activity, unemployment, occupational status and economic activities where they work. The results of this analysis show that half of the unemployed and underemployed in the region are young, their participation in the economy shows a gradual annual decline and that gender gaps are most notable for the over-representation of women among the unemployed, more educated and dedicated to household chores. As findings revealed that staying in the education system has not made substantial progress in the employment of the young, they are the last to benefit from increased demand for labor and the first to suffer the negative consequences when it contracts, to this sense of loss of work and its centrality value it adds to structure the lives of future generations.
