Abstract

MARTIN ROMERO, José Luis. Studies of work in contemporary Cuba. Challenges for the social sciences. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2016, vol.12, n.24, pp.134-141. ISSN 1817-4078.

The article recovers, aiming its higher and better diffusion, author`s reflections, recently presented to scholars who study the work as category, and display three main challenges for such a studies in contemporary Cuba. First: the work role into de population and development relations;second: the effect over employment, at its social level, of two precarious conditions: the insolvent incomes of formal wages and the unsafety work conditions of the informal ones. Lastly, the author pointed out the complex inclusion and likely confrontation of work relations ―at the different economical spaces― into the Cuban Socialism Update project. Each one of these items include propositions of research ―task and issues― to face the different identified challenges.

Keywords : employment; labor resources; new job scenarios; social work relationships; work.
