HERNANDEZ MONDEJAR, Wiliam e MORA PEREZ, Arelis Rosalen. Spatial perspective of internal migration in Cuba in the 2015-2017 triennium. A behavior that does not lose strength. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.28, pp.314-321. Epub 24-Maio-2019. ISSN 1817-4078.
The components of change in the population have had differences in terms of their magnitude and territorial expressions in Cuba. In particular, internal migration has been a reflection of the different socioeconomic contexts of the country, for reasons ranging from the loss of attractiveness of some spaces and the slight flowering of others, as well as the introduction of governmental policies and intentions aimed at mitigating the flow of population that for substantive decades has been produced from east to west. The present investigation intends to put in perspective from a spatial view the importance that the migratory flow continues to have within the country. The same takes shape in the 2015-2017 triennium and tries to leave exposed the decisive role that the internal migration has had in the demographic change of the country. In this regard, it can be observed that, as a result of internal migration, 19 municipalities grew in the country at the end of 2017, while another 57 decreased at the end of the same year, which makes this the fundamental determinant of population change in the country 45,2% of the Cuban municipalities.
