MORALES PINO, Loraine  y  HERNANDEZ MONDEJAR, Wiliam. Characteristics of international migration in Pinar del Río in the period 2011-2017. A reason. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2019, vol.15, n.29, pp.1-11.  Epub 15-Oct-2019. ISSN 1817-4078.

Although there have been diverse changes in its magnitude, destinies, new processes and also in the legal order of international migration in Cuba, it continues to be a variable of weight in the dynamics of Cuban territories. The main objective of the following article is to characterize international migration in the province of Pinar del Río based on the redistributive effect and intensity of the process in the period 2011-2017. In order to fulfill it, the demographic dynamics and the spatial differentiation of the migratory process in the province are contextualized. In addition, an analysis of socioeconomic characteristics and geographic context of its Minor Administrative Divisions (DAME) is carried out. In general, the research uses methodological resources that expand knowledge about the demographic structures of the province and its territories. To this end, the authors perform a comparative study based on a quantitative methodology that used statistical and demographic analysis. The information was obtained from the databases of the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI), which determined Viñales and Pinar del Río as the main receiving municipalities of the province on an international scale and Pinar del Río and Sandino as international issuers. It also characterizes the international migration of the province to be predominantly of young women between 20-34 years of age.
