Los objetivos del trabajo son comparar la historia reproductiva de tres generaciones de mujeres residentes en el municipio Plaza de la Revolución, el de menor fecundidad de Cuba, y describir en la generación más joven las actitudes en relación con las gestaciones, la anticoncepción y los abortos provocados. La primera generación (abuelas), la integran diez mujeres y la segunda y la tercera sus hijas y nietas, respectivamente. La historia reproductiva de abuelas e hijas se seleccionó de las bases de datos de investigaciones precedentes. Las nietas se escogieron intencionalmente, con el criterio de que tuvieran 15 años o más. La guía del cuestionario fue la misma para las tres generaciones. Además, las nietas fueron entrevistadas en profundidad para conocer sus opiniones sobre otros aspectos de la historia reproductiva. Las tres generaciones tuvieron edades tempranas de menarquia, de inicio de las relaciones sexuales y de la primera gestación. Las cifras de embarazo en la adolescencia fueron altas, con mayor fecundidad en esta etapa para las abuelas y mayor recurrencia al aborto provocado en las hijas y nietas, a pesar de las edades de estas últimas. Las jóvenes manifestaron desaprobación en relación con las gestaciones en la adolescencia. Tienen opiniones negativas con respecto a tener hijos en estas edades. Poseen conocimientos sobre el uso y la importancia de la anticoncepción y las consecuencias negativas del aborto provocado, sin embargo lo percibían y empleaban como una opción para regular la fecundidad.

The aim of this paper is to compare the reproductive history of three generations of women residents in Plaza de la Revolución municipality (the municipality with lowest fertility in Cuba) and to describe, in the youngest generation, the attitudes related with pregnancy, contraception and induced abortion. The generation one (grandmothers) is integrated by 10 women and second and third generations are their daughters and granddaughters. The reproductive histories of grandmothers and their daughters were selected from databases of previous researches. The condition for select granddaughters was that they had more than 15 years old. The same questionnaire was used for three generations. In addition, the granddaughters were interviewed for knowing their opinions about other elements of their reproductive history. The reproductive history of three generations was characterized by early ages of menarche, beginning of the sexual relationships and first pregnancy. The pregnancy in adolescence was high, with more fertility in these ages in grandmothers and higher use of induced abortion in daughters and granddaughters, despite the young ages of the last ones. The youngest generation disapproves pregnancy and do not agree with have children in adolescence. They have knowledge about contraception and the health risk of induced abortion; however, they perceive it and use it as a way to control their fertility.
