El Centro de Estudios Demográficos de la Universidad de La Habana (CEDEM) presentó en 2009 una evaluación de la situación demográfica de la población cubana. Este artículo actualiza lo realizado desde entonces, e incluye los resultados de investigaciones, monitoreo de la situación demográfica, capacitaciones y formación de personal en estudios de población en diferentes territorios del país, realizados por el CEDEM con el apoyo del Fondo de Población de la Naciones Unidas (UNFPA) y el PNUD con PADIT, Plataforma Articulada para el Desarrollo Integral Territorial, a partir del 2014. Esas acciones permitieron obtener caracterizaciones demográficas que abarcaban en los territorios la situación de la estructura y dinámica demográfica, incluyen miradas a la fecundidad, mortalidad, migraciones, recursos laborales, familia, envejecimiento demográfico y distribución espacial de la población, entre otros temas.

The Center for Demographic Studies of the University of Havana (CEDEM), in accordance with the process of updating the economic and social model of Cuba, presented in 2009 an evaluation of the demographic situation of the Cuban population, particularizing in a set of proposals for actions. This article updates what has been done since then, and includes the results of the investigations, monitoring of the demographic situation, training, sensitization and personnel training in population studies in different territories of the country, carried out by the CEDEM, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UNDP with PADIT, Articulated Platform for Territorial Integral Development, in that case, as of 2014. These actions allowed demographic characterizations to be obtained that included in the territories the situation of the structure and demographic dynamics, include views on fertility, mortality, migration, labor resources, family, demographic aging and spatial distribution of the population, among other issues.
