Resumen
MARCO-GRACIA, Francisco J.. The baby boom in rural Aragon (Spain) from microdata. Dimension, protagonists and intergenerational transmission. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2022, vol.18, n.36, pp. 231-261. Epub 15-Nov-2022. ISSN 1817-4078.
Our aim is to analyze using individual microdata of 14 localities, for the first time, the profile of the rural protagonists of the baby boom. Given that the Spanish case is exceptional because there is a worse economic situation and migrations of agricultural seasonal workers, we have explored different explanatory theories. For this analysis we used descriptive statistics and a logistic regression to understand the factors that led the protagonists to have a higher average marital fertility. We have also explored the characteristics of baby boomers. The results show that migrants are linked to the baby boom, as well as individuals with lower educational levels. The theory of economic optimism and gaps in contraceptive advances are postulated as those that best explain this phenomenon.
