Dermatomyositis is a disease that occurs more frequently in patients older than 60 years and preferably female; however, sometimes it occurs in children. To publicize the core elements that allow the diagnosis of this disease. The case of a 7-year-old schoolgirl who comes to the emergency service with clinical manifestations suggesting a juvenile dermatomyositis is presented. The clinical manifestations and the results of the complementary examinations allowed to reach the definitive diagnosis of the disease, it was necessary to make the differential diagnosis with other conditions that present with similar symptomatology.
