Introduction:

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, disabling sequelae arise, still to be measured, that will accompany us in the coming years. In relation to this issue, actions with a multidisciplinary approach should be direct, where public health and the educational system provide the knowledge and methodology to deal with it. Raise the level of knowledge about post-COVID-19 disabling sequelae in medical students.

Objectives:

Raise the level of knowledge about post-COVID-19 disabling sequelae in medical students.

Methods:

A quasi-experimental study of educational intervention was carried out in fifth-year students of Medicine of the University of Medical Sciences of Camaguey, from the subject Public Health, during the period April-May 2023. A sample of 23 students was selected of 20. The variables age group, sex, level of knowledge about the epidemiology of post-COVID-19 disabling sequelae, classification by systems, identification, monitoring, treatment, and global level of knowledge about them were studied.

Results:

The group of 21-25 years (50.0 %) and the female sex (65.0 %) predominated. In the topic on the epidemiology of post-COVID-19 disabling sequelae, the level of knowledge increased from 5.0-95.0 %, while, in relation to, the classification by systems reached 20.0-90.0 %. Regarding the identification, monitoring and treatment, the level of sufficient knowledge was 15.0-75.0 %. Sufficient global evaluation ranged from 5.0-90.0 %.

Conclusions:

It was possible to raise the level of knowledge about post-COVID-19 disabling sequelae in medical students. This will allow cases to be identified, conducted and followed up during on-the-job education.
