CABRERA SANTILLAN, Víctor Daniel  e  RODRIGUEZ ESPINOSA, Jorge Ricardo. Rationale for the beneficial effects of aerobic exercise in patients with chronic kidney disease. Rev Cuba Reumatol [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.4  Epub 01-Dez-2023. ISSN 1817-5996.

Chronic kidney disease is a non-transmissible, non-curable chronic disease, however, action can be taken to limit its progress and associated damage. The results of a systematic review on chronic kidney disease are exposed, the moment in which aerobic exercise should be prescribed, the age group that most affects the prevalence of the disease and the homogeneous characteristics of the patients, as well as the beneficial effects. provided by aerobic exercise. Twenty-four studies published in Google Scholar and in the Scielo, Redalyc, and PubMed databases were included in the sample. The main contributions consist of: the homogeneous characteristics of CKD patients and the benefits of applying exercise. In conclusion, CKD can affect people of any age, but older adulthood is the age group that is most frequently reported as the most incident in prevalence. Evidence shows that an aerobic exercise program in accordance with the patient's characteristics can improve biomarkers related to renal function, other alterations and comorbidities that affect functional activity and quality of life. It is suggested to start this program from the moment the disease is detected or even in the presence of risk factors.
