At present communication plays an indispensable role in preparing man for life; the school assumes as the main challenge, to provide the student with strategies to achieve the understanding of texts, depending on the development of language skills. It is the main objective of this work to base from the theoretical point of view a system of activities that contributes to the development of skills in the comprehension of texts, in the fourth grade students. The research process was carried out on a dialectical-materialist basis and methods were employed at the theoretical, empirical and statistical-mathematical levels, such as the system approach, modeling, analysis and synthesis, observation, interview, documentary analysis and descriptive statistics the percentage analysis, which allowed the diagnosis of the educational reality and the evidence of the practical validity of the work. The novelty is directed to the development of the comprehension of texts, transiting through the levels of performance and supported in the integrative conception of the Spanish Language class; the texts were extracted from the Marti´s Notebook, Zunzún´s magazine, grade textbook and others created by the authors, worked in the training classes. This proposal made it possible to substantially improve students' results, demonstrating the scientific-pedagogical nature of the same and contributing to the pedagogic sciences a system of activities for the understanding oftexts.
