Este trabajo hace referencia a la Reforma de Córdova de 1918 como momento histórico en la vida de la universidad en América Latina y su influencia en los cambios que empezaron a darse en la universidad ecuatoriana. A inicios del siglo XX, la universidad en América Latina era uno de los mayores rasgos coloniales que se mantenían hasta ese entonces, fue el año 1918 a través de la llamada Reforma de Córdova en donde se realizaron cambios en la manera de llevar la vida universitaria. Fue la autonomía universitaria uno de los principales planteamientos de esta reforma, el co-gobierno, la presencia de la educación pública, el libre ingreso, la gestión interna de la universidad.

This paper refers to the Reform of Cordova in 1918 as a historical moment in the life of the university in Latin America and its influence in the changes that began to take place in the Ecuadorian university. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the university in Latin America was one of the greatest colonial features that remained until then, was the year 1918 through the so-called Reform of Cordova where changes were made in how to lead university life. It was university autonomy one of the main approaches to this reform, co-government, the presence of public education, free entry, and the internal management of the university.
