This article analyzes the need to specify the relevant contents in the teaching and learning of histology for the preparation of medical doctors in Ecuador, that is, those that the professionals will use in their medical practice. This work will try to uncover those relevant contents through problems solving methodology, from professional cases for the teaching of histology. This way, the students will be motivated to do research, and by means of their independent learning, they will determine the basic knowledge they need.
