La motivación profesional y los problemas concernientes a la elección de la profesión adquieren relevancia dada la necesidad de formar profesionales de elevada calidad que participen activamente en el desarrollo político, económico y social de un país. La investigación permitió caracterizar la motivación en estudiantes del Pre-Universitario “Ernesto Che Guevara” del municipio de Rodas. Se evidencia su limitado desarrollo, que se reduce a las premisas básicas, siendo representativo el nivel IV de desarrollo de la motivación profesional, donde los componentes autovalorativo y proyección futura presentaron las mayores limitaciones y el componente afectivo resultó ser el criterio más discriminatorio. Se muestran sin embargo niveles adecuados en el potencial de desarrollo motivacional profesional, dadas las deficiencias en el sistema de orientación profesional y no en el desarrollo psicológico de la juventud. Se recomienda involucrar a profesores y padres en una estrategia de orientación profesional en correspondencia con las necesidades de la institución.

Professional motivation and the concern problems to the election of the profession acquire relevance because of the need to instruct professionals of lofty quality that can take actively participation in political, economic and social development of a country. The investigation permitted to characterize the motivation in students of the Pre-University Ernesto Che Guevara of the municipality of Rodas. It evidences its limited development that is reduced to basic premises, being representative the level IV of development of professional motivation, where auto-appraising components and future projection presented the bigger limitations and it proved to be the affective component with the more discriminatory opinion. They show however levels made suitable in the potential of motivational professional development, once the deficiencies in the system of vocational guidance were given and not in the young's psychological development. It is recommended the engaging of professors and parents in a strategy of vocational guidance in correspondence with the institution's needs.
