The objective of the work is to contribute to the preparation of teachers, of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Technical University of Machala, in the fundamental aspects to be taken into account in the selection and approach of the problem in an investigation that facilitates with it learning this activity. For its execution, an investigation was carried out on what was published, about this topic, in journals of scientific publications, research reports, degree thesis, among other documents of a scientific nature. The methods of analysis and synthesis were used, which served to summarize the information obtained. As a result, a document with the updated contents of the subject studied is presented, with a didactic approach that facilitates its understanding. The importance of adequately posing the problem when initiating an investigation, which will determine the obtaining of better results in this, is corroborated.
