La adolescencia es uno de los períodos más críticos para el desarrollo de la autoestima. Por tanto, es importante preparar a la familia y a las instituciones educativas para poder afrontar situaciones de riesgo y crear recursos protectores, de ajuste psicológico y social en los adolescentes. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo relacionar algunos elementos vinculados a la autoestima y el enfoque de género en la adolescencia así como la labor de las agencias de socialización en su estimulación. Se realiza un estudio descriptivo de los referentes teóricos que valorizan la importancia de esta configuración psicológica para este grupo etario. Los resultados se asocian a la propuesta de algunos procedimientos de enseñanza para su fortalecimiento en aras de facilitar el logro de una estima positiva en los adolescentes y de reforzar los elementos de autorreferencia en aquellos que se forman como docentes, de manera que trabajen el desarrollo de su propia autoestima para lograr estimular la de sus educandos.

Adolescence is one of the most critical periods for the development of self-esteem. Therefore it is important to train the family and the educational institutions to be able to face risk situations and to create protective resources of psychological and social correction in teenagers. The main objective of this work is to relate some elements linked to self-esteem and gender focus of adolescents as well as the work of the socialization agencies in its stimulation. A theoretical descriptive study is carried out to appraisal the importance of this psychological configuration for this age group. The results of the analysis are related to the proposal of some teaching procedures for its strengthening to facilitate the achievement of a teens´ positive esteem and to reinforce the elements of auto reference in those that are formed as teachers, so that they work on the development of their own self-esteem to be able to stimulate their pupils´.
