Las relaciones interpersonales que se gestan a través de Internet han creado nuevos imaginarios en la juventud ecuatoriana. Estas relaciones que surgen en la web se han constituido como algo cotidiano con el auge de las redes sociales, en ocasiones sin medir las consecuencias negativas de su mal uso. Este artículo tiene el propósito de aproximarse a tan importante asunto y contribuir a la toma de conciencia sobre los nuevos entornos en los que se producen dichas relaciones, así como brindar un referente teórico actualizado para futuras investigaciones. La estrategia metodológica discurrió a través de los métodos hermenéuticos, análisis documental y analítico-sintético. Los hallazgos obtenidos permitieron concluir que los adolescentes y jóvenes, “nativos digitales”, establecen relaciones interpersonales mediadas por las tecnologías, sin tener una clara percepción del riesgo que entraña su inadecuado empleo, tienen una errada sensación de inmunidad, lo que los convierte en potenciales víctimas de nautas digitales inescrupulosos.

The interpersonal relationships that are developed through the Internet, have created new imaginaries in the Ecuadorian young people. These relationships that arise on the web have been established as a daily occurrence with the rise of social networks, sometimes without measuring the negative consequences of their misuse. This article aims to approach such an important issue and contribute to the awareness of the new environments in which these relationships occur, as well as provide an updated theoretical reference for future research. The methodological strategy ran through the hermeneutic, documentary and analytic-synthetic methods. The findings obtained allowed us to conclude that adolescents and young people, "digital natives", establish interpersonal relationships mediated by technologies, without having a clear perception of the risk implied by their inadequate employment, they have a mistaken sense of immunity, which makes them potential victims of unscrupulous digital surfers.
