La investigación realizada es fundamentalmente descriptiva, de revisión bibliográfica. La estrategia metodológica se sistematizó a través de los métodos de revisión documental, hermenéutico y analítico-sintético, con el objetivo de analizar la influencia de los museos temáticos en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de las Ciencias Sociales, en el Cantón Machala, provincia de El Oro. La indagación realizada permitió examinar la importancia de estas instituciones como recurso didáctico para el aprendizaje significativo de esta ciencia; así como su rol en la difusión del patrimonio cultural e histórico tangible e intangible. A pesar de las limitaciones observadas, se deben estrechar los vínculos entre los profesionales de estos centros culturales y los docentes para trazar estrategias que permitan el mejor empleo de los recursos que atesoran en el cumplimiento de los currículos de esta asignatura. Entre otras dinámicas deben realizarse visitas a los museos de forma escalonada, actividades didácticas colaborativas y acciones extensionistas para acercar estos centros culturales a las escuelas; así como utilizar los recursos que brindan las tecnologías para superar las restricciones que impone al trabajo didáctico el limitado espacio físico de las salas expositivas.

The research carried out is basically descriptive, of bibliographic review. The methodological strategy was systematized through methods of documentary, hermeneutic and analytical-synthetic review, with the aim of analyzing the influence of thematic museums in the teaching-learning process of the Social Sciences, in Machala Canton, province of El Oro. The investigation made possible to examine the importance of these institutions as a didactic resource for the significant learning of this science; as well as its role in the dissemination of tangible and intangible cultural and historical heritage. In spite of the limitations observed, the links between the professionals of these cultural centers and the teachers must be strengthened in order to draw up strategies that allow the best use of the resources they treasure in complying with the curricula of this subject. Among other dynamics and visits to museums should be made in a phased manner, collaborative didactic activities and extension activities to bring these cultural centers closer to schools; as well as using the resources provided by the technologies to overcome the restrictions imposed on the didactic work by the limited physical space of the exhibition halls.
