The research carried out is basically descriptive, of bibliographic review. The methodological strategy was systematized through methods of documentary, hermeneutic and analytical-synthetic review, with the aim of analyzing the influence of thematic museums in the teaching-learning process of the Social Sciences, in Machala Canton, province of El Oro. The investigation made possible to examine the importance of these institutions as a didactic resource for the significant learning of this science; as well as its role in the dissemination of tangible and intangible cultural and historical heritage. In spite of the limitations observed, the links between the professionals of these cultural centers and the teachers must be strengthened in order to draw up strategies that allow the best use of the resources they treasure in complying with the curricula of this subject. Among other dynamics and visits to museums should be made in a phased manner, collaborative didactic activities and extension activities to bring these cultural centers closer to schools; as well as using the resources provided by the technologies to overcome the restrictions imposed on the didactic work by the limited physical space of the exhibition halls.
