La interdisciplinariedad supone la existencia de un grupo de disciplinas relacionadas entre sí y con vínculos previamente establecidos, que evitan que se desarrollen acciones de forma aislada, dispersa o segmentada. La formación del estudiante dentro del desarrollo del proceso enseñanza aprendizaje es una responsabilidad de todas las disciplinas que integran el currículo de la carrera. La enseñanza de la asignatura de Ortodoncia en Cuba ha sufrido varias modificaciones, según han evolucionado los diferentes planes de estudio, como respuesta al desarrollo tecnológico de la ciencia, a nivel mundial, de la que esta especialidad forma parte inseparable y que, en los últimos años, gracias a numerosas investigaciones, ha modificado la perspectiva del diagnóstico y el tratamiento. En el presente trabajo tenemos como objetivo destacar la importancia de la interdisciplinariedad en la asignatura de ortodoncia ejemplificándolo a través de un caso clínico brindando al paciente una atención integral.

Interdisciplinarity implies the existence of a group of interrelated disciplines with previously established links, which prevent actions from being developed in isolation, dispersed or segmented. The formation of the student within the development of the teaching-learning process is a responsibility of all the disciplines that make up the career curriculum. The teaching of the subject of Orthodontics in Cuba has undergone several modifications, according to how the different study plans have evolved, as a response to the technological development of science, worldwide, of which this specialty is inseparable and that, in the last years, thanks to numerous investigations, has modified the perspective of diagnosis and treatment. In this paper we aim to highlight the importance of interdisciplinarity in the orthodontic subject by exemplifying it through a clinical case providing the patient with comprehensive care.
