This article offers arguments about the importance and necessity of orienting the Teaching-Learning Process of the discipline Automation in the training of the Electromechanical engineer for a process of skills and practical abilities development, a professional of humanistic, critical and reflexive capacity, the training and profile of the engineer required by society at present. It is believed that in order to achieve this desired professional profile, the PEA of automation in the electromechanical career, even in other areas of engineering education, is constantly seeking to improve with changes in its curricula and in all categories of the EAP, mainly in methods, to meet the current needs of new technologies and the demands of society and the labor market.
