ABSTRACT In recent years, population aging worldwide is increasing, which has an impact on the needs of society in general. In the elderly, it is very important to keep visual health in mind as it is one of the factors that promote independence in these ages. The primary attention is determinant for the detection of visual problems, the necessary intervention and the corresponding optical aid, in the case of a low vision. The work presents practical theoretical reflections on the subject under study, where the evaluation and intervention in a specific population group is shown in visual campaigns carried out at the Dr. León Becerra Hospital in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador
