Abstract

This study is an attempt to approach the cultural habits and practices of three groups of university students attached to the University of Cuenca, the University of Azuay and the National University of Education of Ecuador. This work is part of a broader research project that aims to explore the cognitive support of students in essential aspects of the subject, at the beginning of the semester and its verification at the end, while discovering their habits and educational cultural practices. This proposal is not conceived from a quantitative conception but as a teaching experience that aims to use cultural manifestations as a strategy in the teaching-learning process. In order to achieve this goal, an instrument has been elaborated in two modules of contents: an identification one dedicated to certain sociodemographic characteristics of the students and another focused on the study of cultural habits and practices. The results obtained in this investigation show in general lines, the existence of an increase in certain cultural habits and practices and highlights certain weaknesses in this university population.
