This article aims to socialize reflections on the problem related to the study of local history in the Social Sciences, its theoretical foundations and importance, through explanations that demonstrate the need for an Ecuadorian educational context to be provided Priority attention to this aspect in terms of citizen education. It is based on a methodological strategy that combines quantitative and qualitative perspectives, through which a variety of procedures and techniques are used for the collection of information, with a predominance of bibliographic and documentary review, historical-logical and synthetic analytical methods. As a result, a deep reflection, explanation and argumentation are obtained on the subject in question that can be useful to reorient educational and curricular strategies, as well as current pedagogical practices in the training of children and youth within the national educational system.
