The objective was to determine the effect of an illustrative first-reader in knowledge and praxis of the self-examination of mammas. A quasi-experimental study with assessment came true before and after, with a very group, shaped for the ACLAS's 34 users Pillcomarca - Huánuco, 2018. A questionnaire of knowledge and of practices on self-examination of mammas was used. McNemar utilized the proof in the checking of hypothesis. The results evidenced right after the intervention that knowledge on self-examination of mamma and 79.4 % (32 users) had a 94.1 % (27 users) they had adequate practices. In such manner, in relation to the comparison of knowledge and the practice of the self-examination of mamma before and after intervention, statistically it was found significant differences (P≤0,05) and this finding is corroborated by different studies aligned to the prevention of this disease. It was concluded that there is a significant effect of the illustrative booklet in the increase of knowledge and praxis of mammas self-examination in users of ACLAS Pillcomarca - Huánuco.
