The vertiginous development of the economic, social and political conditions of the last decades have completely transformed the scenario in which Higher Education has to develop in the practice of a society of anybody; if it aspires to keep up with the requirements of the highly competitive work environment that surrounds it, and to which, it is increasingly committed to delivering capable professionals and owners of many skills. This study exposes some of the most relevant theoretical generalities in problem teaching, its use in the Sociopolitical Theory subject, common core subject in the higher education system in Cuba, essential for the training of committed and competent professionals that the demand of the country. All the inquiry is made from the experience accumulated by the cloister throughout the 40 years of existence of the University of Cienfuegos.
