The article responds to a descriptive research about psychological paradigms whose basic principles related to Local History are aimed at promoting an identity culture in Higher Basic Education in Tenth Grade students in the field of Social Sciences. The objective of this article is to offer a brief psychological approach to the teaching of Local History and its curricular practice in the Social Sciences through bibliographic systematization, content analysis and quantitative techniques; that facilitate to obtain as a result a deep theoretical reflection and to conclude that the diffusion of the Local History in the curricula of the Higher Basic Education represents a key reference to develop the strengthening of interculturality, as well as the formation of a democratic citizenship in children and youth of the national education system prioritizing their needs, interests and different socio-cultural realities.
