Abstract

The text that is made available to readers in general and particularly to the trainers of students of the basic education career of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Technical University of Machala, aims to contribute to the analysis and reflection on the relevance of the philosophical approach in the scientific research process, especially in what refers to social research, from its functionality in epistemological analysis to the construction of new knowledge, scientific knowledge. For its writing, it was based on a bibliographic review and the author's experience in pedagogical practice focused on the philosophy of education and in the field of educational research. It was preceded by a mixed investigation, as it combines the quantitative and qualitative paradigms, supported by the use of methods and techniques such as scientific observation, bibliographic review and criticism, the application of interviews and questionnaires to teachers of the aforementioned career, and debates generated in discussion groups. As a result, ideas, concepts, conceptions are exposed, which can enrich, appropriating the philosophical approach that is proposed, the vision that currently exists from pedagogical practice regarding social research in the training of students of the career in basic education.
