El arte en sentido general y la literatura en particular están permeados de experiencias, trasmitidas por los creadores desde sus propias vivencias, y es que la literatura refleja cosas, sociedades, momentos históricos, cosmogonías, sucesos, obsesiones, ideologías, tradiciones culturales, según el estudio esté guiado por uno u otro interés. El Romanticismo, por ejemplo, fue un movimiento cultural y político surgido a finales del siglo XVIII y desarrollado en la primera mitad del siglo XIX, marcado por el ascenso de la burguesía y de los ideales de la Revolución Francesa de igualdad, libertad y fraternidad. Este movimiento llega a España en medio de revueltas políticas entre liberales y conservadores, provocando que se bifurque en dos vertientes: el liberal, encabezado por Espronceda y el tardío, liderado por Bécquer. El romanticismo trasciende los mares y llega a Cuba, una de las colonias que todavía le quedaban a España, desarrollándose de manera muy peculiar, pues el sentir patriótico más puro se va a verter en la naturaleza patria, llegando, así, a ser objeto de expresión en poetas locales como es el caso de los autores cienfuegueros: Clotilde del Carmen Rodríguez López, Antonio José Hurtado del Valle y Adelaida Saínz. Por tanto, este trabajo tiene como objetivo realzar las figuras de estos tres escritores cienfuegueros pertenecientes al romanticismo cubano.

This movement arrives in Spain in the midst of political revolts between liberals and conservatives, causing it to fork in two ways: liberal Romanticism, headed by Espronceda and late Romanticism, led by Becquer. Romanticism transcends the seas and arrives in Cuba, one of the colonies that still had Spain left, developing in a very peculiar way, because the purest patriotic feeling will be poured into the homeland, thus becoming the object of expression in local poets as is the case of the authors of Cienfuegueros: Clotilde del Carmen Rodríguez López, Antonio José Hurtado del Valle and Adelaida Saínz. Therefore, this work aims to enhance the figures of these three writers of Cienfuegueros belonging to Cuban Romanticism.
