Resumen

AMEZCUA GUTIERREZ, Aída Edna; DURAN GONZALEZ, Rosa Elena  y  MORENO LOZANO, Alejandro. Children who work in Mexico and their right to play?. Conrado [online]. 2020, vol.16, n.75, pp.21-31.  Epub 02-Ago-2020. ISSN 2519-7320.

Play is of great importance in the mental and cognitive constitution of infants and in contexts of poverty, child labor is related to violating their rights, that is, they are violated despite the instruction of international treaties, conventions and declarations, as well as various constitutions and laws that protect them. It is for the above that the study analyzes child labor and play in children in the city of Pachuca hidalgo, Mexico, from the family, cultural, economic and legal dimensions. The qualitative methodology included interviews with the families of the children who allowed the testimonies of the infants to be recovered about their conditions in child labor. Due to the complexity of the topic, the study considered the social, cultural, economic and legal dimensions for an approach to the problem. Among the main findings, we find that the family requires the income of infants to subsist in a permissive culture regarding child labor, thereby threatening the rights to education and play. This omission has personal consequences for minors, a future that reproduces poverty before the indifference of employers, society and the state.

Palabras clave : Poverty; child labor; gambling; rights; education.
