This article aims to analyze the need to incorporate the use of technology in the classroom through a Virtual Learning Environment, which is indispensable in the teaching-learning process of mathematics, and to identify which are the theoretical and technological aspects that should be taken into account for the use of these technological tools. On the other hand, the methodology used in the development of the research is based on a mixed approach where an instrument structured in 12 closed questions was applied for the collection of information through an online survey to a population of 94 students during the 2019-2020 school year corresponding to the first term, knowing the current state of management of technology in the Complex Numbers Subject of the third year students of Leonardo Maldonado Pérez, Puembo Educational Institution in which it was possible to diagnose the strengths in terms of equipment and connectivity that the students have in order to develop the complex numbers classes with the incorporation of a Virtual Learning Environment.
