The research deals with emotional intelligence in students of the Universidad Autonoma de los Andes extension Ibarra, for it has taken into account the importance of managing and controlling personal emotions, ability to work as a team and the interrelation between classmates, because the educational environment is a variable that affects the quality of education as well as the assimilation of knowledge. The general objective was to know the management of the interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence of the students. The specific objectives were to detect the percentage of students who have problems with emotional intelligence. The study was qualitative and descriptive. The methods used were inductive - deductive and analytical - synthetic. The study population was the 674 students of accounting and auditing, tourism, administration, systems, and law. As a research technique, a semi-structured survey was applied to 245 students in the classroom modality. It was determined that 39% of students do not know about emotional intelligence, 29% have had problems with classmates because of the way they are, 17% have difficulty working in a team and 6% have not managed to fit in. in the work groups; 50% of students fail to control emotions such as stress, gestures, expressions, tremors, sweating and often changes mood suddenly.
