Los proyectos investigativos de la Universidad Regional Autónoma de Los Andes, permiten satisfacer las necesidades básicas de la humanidad, originar modalidades de consumo sostenibles que garanticen la satisfacción de las necesidades básicas de la población más pobre, evitando las modalidades de consumo insostenibles que por lo general se consideran nocivas para el medio ambiente. Siendo éste tema tan relevante se realizó la presente investigación considerando como objeto de estudio el sector empresarial de la provincia de Imbabura, el principal objetivo de la misma consistió en determinar si las empresas de la provincia de Imbabura desarrollan prácticas socialmente responsables, ello con la finalidad de incorporar un modelo de responsabilidad social empresarial para dichas entidades, los métodos que se utilizaron fueron el analítico sintético para resumir la bibliografía; el histórico lógico para fundamentar la trayectoria del antecedentes de la responsabilidad social empresarial y el método inductivo y deductivo para analizar los resultados obtenidos a través de la encuesta, como resultados se determinó que las empresas si han integrado en su planificación y como parte de su filosofía empresarial conceptos vinculados a la responsabilidad social, además los trabajadores y administradores de las empresas de Imbabura consideran que la planificación estratégica no se ejecuta con respecto a los principios de responsabilidad social empresarial.

The research projects of the Universidad Regional Autónoma de Los Andes, allow to satisfy the basic needs of the humanity, to originate sustainable consumption modalities that guarantee the satisfaction of the basic needs of the poorest population, avoiding the unsustainable consumption modalities that are generally considered harmful for the environment. Being this topic so relevant, the present investigation was carried out considering as object of study the business sector of the province of Imbabura, the main objective of the same one was to determine if the companies of the province of Imbabura develop socially responsible practices, it with the purpose of incorporating a model of managerial social responsibility for the above mentioned entities, the methods that were used were the analytical synthetic one to summarize the bibliography; The logical history to support the trajectory of the background of corporate social responsibility and the inductive and deductive method to analyze the results obtained through the survey. As a result, it was determined that the companies have integrated concepts linked to social responsibility into their planning and as part of their business philosophy; furthermore, the workers and administrators of the companies in Imbabura consider that strategic planning is not executed with respect to the principles of corporate social responsibility.
