ARROYO LALAMA, Emma Maricela; SALAME ORTIZ, Verónica; SALINAS VILLACIS, Pamela y GARCIA RODRIGUEZ, Beatriz. Thermoplasticized obturation with the use of two systems: thermafil and system b and their teaching use. Conrado [online]. 2021, vol.17, n.83, pp.259-264. Epub 10-Dic-2021. ISSN 2519-7320.
One of the main objectives of the obturation is to achieve an efficient apical sealing, in order to prevent the reinfection of the residual bacteria that remain in the root canal system after the mechanical chemical preparation has been carried out. Thus, innumerable root canal filling techniques were introduced, all of them trying to fulfill this function. The vast majority of new filling techniques use thermoplasticized gutta-percha to better fill all the spaces in the root canals. Thermoplastic obturation techniques were introduced in the market to ensure better homogeneity, three-dimensional obturation and superficial adaptation of gutta-percha. The objective of this literature review is to expose thermoplastic filling techniques such as Thermafil and System B, thus describing the execution procedures, advantages, disadvantages, indications and contraindications and its teaching use.
