Resumen

This paper aims to report to basic education teachers, adult students, researchers, and educational authorities the teaching characteristics found in general primary teachers. These features were identified in qualitative research with an ethnographic approach using a case study. The investigation techniques used were observations and interview recordings. Information was analyzed to obtain the categories of analysis that were triangulated to construct an interpretive text. It was identified in this research that teachers teach based on their own experiences acquired through years of service, giving little importance to continuous training because they consider that it prescribes what to do without any real implementation in practice. Likewise, it was identified the absence of reflectivity and dialoguing about common topics and situations related to teaching at the Technical Council School (CTE) place. This fact makes it difficult to problematize teaching, the awareness of what is done, and the inclusion of theoretical proposals in the reflection of the action and the action of teaching. These practices make it possible to continue learning to teach by teaching.
