FERNANDEZ CERVERA, Mirna et al. Scientific training and internationalization: experience of the institute of pharmacy and foods sciences University of Havana. Conrado [online]. 2023, vol.19, n.90, pp. 112-120. Epub 27-Feb-2023. ISSN 1990-8644.
The university professor, in addition to transmitting knowledge, must participate and promote scientific research. This indicator is widely used for the recognition of universities. Similarly, alliances within and outside the institute (and country) are important players in professional and scientific training. This study offers a retrospective analysis of the scientific training (2011-2020) and internationalization (2013-2020) of the faculty members of the Institute of Pharmacy and Food Sciences. It is shown that the predominance of professionals with a PhD title has contributed to the publication of the results. Between a 30 and 40% of articles are found in groups 1 and 2, respectively. Despite the national and international recognition received, it is necessary new strategies to improve the scientific production of each researcher/professor, in correspondence with the requirements demanded by biomedical and food sciences. Regarding international students, training through undergraduate and master's courses has been greater in Pharmacy, while the graduation of doctors in Food Sciences has prevailed. Academic mobility and scholarships records has been variable and influenced by the international situation. The documentation prepared for the internationalization process will facilitate the activity with a better control of the process.
